Our client provides a cloud-based ad tracking software with plenty of integrations with popular platforms, such as Google Ads, Facebook, TikTok, and more. The company offers a range of solutions for different industries, from ecommerce to affiliate marketing. The company’s service allows for collecting detailed data about visitors’ actions and receiving data-driven insights to improve marketing strategies and channel combinations for better conversions.
About the product
No matter how many channels are involved in your marketing campaigns, you can track them all through this single platform. It empowers you to monitor over 30 metrics regarding visits, clicks, and conversions in real-time. The platform’s core features include a unified dashboard with statistics and analytics, custom conversion tracking, redirect and direct tracking, A/B split testing, and more. Recently, our client’s team added Shopify to their must-have integrations list. At that point, they reached out to DigitalSuits for professional Shopify app development.
Challenges overview
In January 2023, the client sent us a request to create a Shopify app for their product. This app was supposed to seamlessly bridge their platform with the Shopify system, providing merchants who run their businesses on Shopify with an all-in-one solution for monitoring their marketing campaigns' effectiveness.
From the technical perspective, this app had to enable merchants to assign tracking URLs for products and track different types of user actions on a Shopify store, such as adding a product item to a cart or purchasing it. Once some user action is completed, the app should transmit data to the tracking platform to be displayed in its dashboard.

Simple integration: Providing Shopify users with an easy-to-setup tracking solution was among our core purposes. With this idea in mind, we created an app that’s both simple to install and intuitive to use. Today, merchants who knew nothing about this tracking service or those who leveraged its features before can add its app to their Shopify dashboard from the Shopify App Store. All that is needed for integration is adding the merchant's domain name registered in the tracking service to the app login form.

Offer ID implementation:We enabled merchants to assign unique offer IDs for different products in Shopify’s Product section. These IDs form the foundation of tracking URLs for each product page, allowing merchants to monitor user activity in marketing campaigns that promote their products. To implement the tracking script into the product page we used Shopify app extensions.

User action differentiation: Our Shopify developers created algorithms to different user actions. These algorithms enable the tracking system to identify and record specific actions on a Shopify store, such as visiting a particular product page, adding an item to the cart, or completing a purchase.

Bug fixes and technical support: At the initial stage after the launch, we analyzed user feedback and worked on eliminating any technical issues that arose. We also provided the client’s technical support team with insights into common difficulties merchants face while using the service.
Extended support for edge cases: We implemented Datadog log management to address uncommon user challenges, such as when merchants use different types of browsers with different cookie policies. This approach gave us deeper insights into app performance for further system improvements and enabled us to launch an updated version of the Shopify app with additional cases included.
Results
Thanks to the Shopify app development services by the DigitalSuits team, our client has expanded their ecommerce audience. Today, they use their Shopify integration as a focal point for promotional campaigns, attracting more and more online store owners and agencies to use their tracking service.
Within the year after the app launch, our client had over 120 app installations, which resulted in roughly a $300,000 revenue boost. The number of app installations has continued to grow with the release of updated app versions and improved technical support, reaching 40+ installations in the last three months.
The DigitalSuits team continues to support this project with Shopify maintenance services to ensure its high performance and hassle-free operation, and we expect even greater success for this tracking system in the near future.
