Challenge overview for an online showroom development case

The client planned to attract more customers to enjoy their wedding dresses. For this reason, they wanted to create a showroom where brides could share dress ideas with their bridesmaids to agree on a style and purchase the right outfit before the party. There was no in-built Shopify feature that was aligned with their business logic. So the DigitalSuits team offered a custom solution to bring the client’s idea to reality.

Our solutions – Virtual clothing showroom development stages

Our designers used wireframing to map out the UX flow for the virtual showroom, guided by the client’s references. Then, we made designs for the UI based on these wireframes.

Our team developed the logic for two customer roles in the showroom – bride and bridesmaid. A bride is a showroom owner who sets up a wedding date and bridal party details, invites bridesmaids to join her showroom, and assigns dresses. Bridesmaids can join the showroom via email, view assigned dresses, and purchase the chosen items.

Our Shopify developers added a countdown timer that appears once the bride sets up a wedding date. This feature creates a festive anticipation of the upcoming wedding and, at the same time, reminds participants to prepare in time.

We integrated the showroom feature with the product detail pages to let the bride add dresses from collections to the fitting room for bridesmaids. Once a bridesmaid joins the showroom via the invite link in her email box, she can choose her size and purchase the dress.

The showroom feature runs independently from the company's Shopify Plus store powered by AWS hosting and infrastructure. This setup enables easy deployment across multiple client’s websites and ensures scalability through AWS services as demand grows.

Our Shopify developers created a separate testing environment for the client to provide feedback for further improvements. After meticulous testing and troubleshooting, we released the wedding showroom to let brides benefit from it in real life.
